Alec and I worked closely together on numerous projects in both academic and pedagogical settings. By always focusing on both the team and the outcome, Alec proved that he is one of the few people out there who works holistically. He cares about the entirety of the project: the ends and the means. He's able to offer constructive feedback in collaborative settings that brings the team together. He's able to be stay diffuse tense situations with grace and humility. I had the pleasure of working alongside Alec as a fellow resident teaching artist for one year at the Kennedy Center's public art studio, the Moonshot Studio. I have known Alec for almost 15 years, in professional and personal arenas. I first worked with Alec as an actor in a show he directed. Since then, we have collaborated on multiple projects including a Colorizing Restorative Justice book club, podcasts, and various unpaid creative work.
